Whole School Waiata Practice

As a school we practice the waiata that we will be singing at our end of year prizegiving. These songs are in English and Maori, celebrating two of the official languages of Aotearoa. It is a great time for the Te Puawai students to show their excellent role model skills and for the school to participate in an activity together, showing our school value of Porihanga or Community and Partnerships.

Google Hangout Scavenger Hunt

During our Google Hangouts we have been having a lot of fun participating in scavenger hunts. One day Mr Masters gave us a letter and we had to find something beginning with that letter. Even Sir joined in! One of the letters we had to find was 'H'. As we went through all the things that everyone found that started with the letter 'H' we had to laugh when it got to Mason T. He found a 'Harry'. We all laughed!

Here is Mason with the 'Harry' he found:

Te Puawai's Assembly Term 1:

In Te Puawai we have been learning about the Treaty of Waitangi and how it is an important part of our countries history. We learnt about it through Drama. We wrote a script based on an article we had read and came up with some actions to go with it. We made sure we spoke with loud, clear voices, used hand gestures, body language and facial expressions to show how our character was feeling. We had lots of laughs, especially when we got to dress up. We enjoyed sharing what we had learnt with our whanau and Kura.
