Pit Stop Fitness:

While the weather is nice we like to get out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Te Puawai enjoy playing games, especially Basketball. Today for our Pit Stop break we played 'Golden Child' where one team shoots goals to stop the other team from running all the way around the court and tagging the next person. Once the whole team has run around the court that team is the winner.

Whole School Waiata Practice

As a school we practice the waiata that we will be singing at our end of year prizegiving. These songs are in English and Maori, celebrating two of the official languages of Aotearoa. It is a great time for the Te Puawai students to show their excellent role model skills and for the school to participate in an activity together, showing our school value of Porihanga or Community and Partnerships.

Go Noodle

When the weather isn't very nice and we are stuck inside,

we still get active and keep ourselves fit and healthy. We use Go Noodle, dance, workout and meditate in class.

Shake out Drill:

As part of the New Zealand wide initiative 'Shake Out' we practiced what to do in the event of an earthquake. In Te Puawai we discussed what an earthquake was and what causes an earthquake. We also talked about what to do when an earthquake struck.

If we are in class we need to 'drop, cover, hold'!

When we are outside we move as far away from anything that may fall or hurt us as possible.

Planting at Lake Ngatu

As part of the reforestation and clean up project undertaken by DOC, we were asked to help plant some Kanuka and Manuka trees around Lake Ngatu. As Kaitiaki of the lake we also walked around the lake collecting rubbish and having a general clean up, showing our school value of Kaitiakitanga. Our students show a lot of pride in keeping our lake clean and protecting the ecosystems, plants and animals that call Lake Ngatu home.

Soccer with James

Today we were lucky enough to have James Coleman come in and teach us how to play Football through some really cool, fun activities. We learnt how to dribble the ball, control the ball, shoot goals and keep fit while playing Football.
